Module 2 - Design the Network Structure
Section 5 - Select Routing and Bridging Protocols
PH Network Services Corporation: Solution
1. Are there any protocols between PHs facilities
that cannot be routed?
-
No. The common application between the doctor offices, the hospitals, and
the PH office is IP based. Windows NT names are not required over the WAN.
Therefore, NetBIOS support will not be required over the WAN links.
2. Each hospital will be using existing routers
that are not necessarily Cisco routers. Which routing protocol
will be the most efficient
to implement between the PH Network Services network and the hospitals?
-
Because the routers may not all be the same, OSPF would represent
the routing protocol of choice.
3. Which routing protocol should you select to
support the doctor offices dialing in via ISDN to the PH
Network Services network?
-
In the case of a remote network connecting to the PH Network Services network,
you may not be able to control what router is used by the doctor offices,
so OSPF would make the most sense.
