PH Network Services Corporation: Solution
1. The general manager of PH called again to ask
about the possibility of patients' medical information
being exposed with the
system you will present. How will you accommodate for this concern in your
design?
-
Access to hospital records is always over the Frame Relaynetwork. Ciscos
Network Encryption Services could be implemented on the Cisco 3620 and
Cisco 2503 routers. This solution, however, does not protect the information
on the ISDN to the doctor offices. Adding encryption over these links could
be very expensive. Either Cisco 2500 routers would be needed at each doctors
office or application-layer encryption will need to be implemented. If
security is of paramount importance to PH, the best solution would be to
combine the two by implementing Network Encryption Services over the Frame
Relay and application-layer security between the servers and PCs.
