Recommend the Cisco 3640 because it provides two high-speed (T1/E1) ports
and provides future expandability. Cisco IOS software will address any
new protocol requirements, and the plug-in network modules provide a high-performance
RISC processor.
3. Update your topology
diagram from Module 2, Section 1 to reflect your media, LAN, and WAN |
hardware selections.

Through the employment of Cisco's Ethernet switching technology, peak performance
will be achieved for all user nodes on the network. This performance is
accomplished by combining minimized user nodes on segmented dedicated 100-Mbps
paths to servers. On average, each user should see virtually the full 10-Mbps
path between the user and a given server.

The TN3270 users are also given a dedicated port to the ES9000.

The network design is simple and easy to manage for CareTaker's inexperienced
administrators. It is a single-protocol, logically flat network. The naming
and addressing is simple and easy to understand and track. The central
location of all shared networking devices, servers, routers, switches,
and so on, makes for easy administration and maintenance.
